I'm sharing with you my feedback on BLH's compliance journey. This sharing aims to instill in you reflexes for preventing legal risks.
Below is the exchange that took place between a client and myself:
Client: Could you explain what compliance is and why it's so crucial for businesses today?
BLH: Certainly! Compliance, or conformity, means ensuring that our company adheres to all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards. In our case, it goes beyond mere obedience to laws; it's an ethical and socially responsible behavior that we adopt daily.
Client: What are the main stakes of compliance for a company?
BLH: There are several. First and foremost, there's protection against legal and regulatory risks. The consequences of non-compliance can be disastrous, ranging from hefty fines to irreparable damage to your reputation.
For BLH, compliance has reinforced the trust of our clients and partners, which is invaluable, not to mention that compliance improves internal performance by pushing us to operate in a more structured manner.
Client: How do you implement compliance in your company?
BLH: It starts with a thorough risk assessment specific to our sector and our company. We then establish internal policies and procedures, and we invest in training our employees to ensure they understand their role in maintaining our compliance.
Client: What challenges do you face in managing compliance?
BLH: The complexity and constant evolution of regulations are certainly a challenge. This requires continuous regulatory monitoring and the ability to adapt quickly.
Then, there's the cost of compliance, which can be particularly challenging for small businesses. But with a strategic approach, these companies will manage to balance these costs with the long-term benefits of compliance.
Client: Do you have concrete examples of how compliance has benefited your company?
BLH: Absolutely. For instance, our company's compliance is one of the requirements for certification to international standards: in our case, this allowed us to be ISO 27001 certified and also improved our brand image, attracting new clients concerned with compliance. Moreover, our rigorous data protection compliance has strengthened our clients' trust in our ability to secure their sensitive information.
To conclude this exchange, we hope this experience sharing will inspire and encourage you to integrate these practices into the core of your strategy.
